Welcome to my blog ~ it is my pleasure to feature I'll Be Home For Christmas by Jen McLaughlin
Nothing could make me leave my family alone for Christmas—except maybe my father-in-law. I swore to Carrie I’d make it home in time, and I’m keeping that promise. One way or another…
I’ll be home for Christmas.
Some promises can’t be kept, and sometimes things just don’t work out. Finn is my world, my life. But when my worst nightmares come true, I’m faced with the impossible truth. Without him…
I'm lost.
My thoughts:
This is my first ever Jen McLaughlin book. That being said, it will surely not be my last!
Obviously I started in the wrong spot - book 6 - but fell in love with the characters right away and didn't feel that I was lost because of my starting point. This lovely little story stands alone well. Even though it stands alone, I found myself liking the book so much that I kept thinking; "Oh, I wish I knew the backstory on that.." and I cannot wait to read the rest of the books to find out all those backstories I was wishing I knew.
The author is a master of weaving a story that keeps the pages turning faster and faster.
This novella was a sit and finish it read. When I came to the end, I was grateful that I had more of her books. It is always fun to find a new author that you enjoy and it is great to find a new series. I am torn by thinking, "I can't believe I didn't find these books sooner" and "I am so glad that there are so many already written so I can keep right on reading!"
I highly recommend this story. It is a wonderful, fast read filled with friends, family, devotion and the power of love. Although this story stands alone, I would reccomend starting at the beginning - book one, Out of Line (there is a buy link below).
I didn't mention the steamy romance aspect of the book yet, so please note that there is adult content.
